Deadlift 101

Deadlift 101

Deadlifts are easily one of my favorite exercises

They are fun, challenging and offer many benefits

You'll find people deadlifting any day you go to the gym, and more often you see people deadlifting with improper form because it is difficult with so many complex things to focus on at once

In this blog I am going to share what goes through my mind when I deadlift

If you take these and practice them you will watch your deadlift improve and blow up in weight

My top deadlifting tips 🔥

1. Move with your hips, not your back‼️

2. Warm-up your core and brace throughout the entire lift 🏋️‍♀️

3. Pull all of the slack out of the bar before you pull, you shouldn’t hear any clicking when you lift the bar🦾

4. Don’t just think of pulling the bar up, think about using your legs to press yourself away from the floor 🦵

5. Hold your breath until you are 3/4 the way up and slowly exhale as you lock out 😤 (breathe deeper into your brace as you're exhaling)

6. Keep your feet glued to the floor the entire time, if your feet or toes are moving, they are moving losing power 🦶

7. Screw the bar apart with your hands to create solid shoulder stability 🏋️

My favorite warm-up exercises on days I deadlift

Lying hamstring kicks

Bird dogs

Lumbar trunk rotations

Kang squats

Dynamic frog stretch
