Doctors are good at one thing…

Prescribing medicine 

Even when it’s not necessary

Even when other things can be done to help your problems 

 

 

Anytime you go to see a doctor with an issue the first thing they do is write a prescription, especially for pain 

 

Not all, but many of these cases can be avoided if these people are taught proper movement mechanics

 

If you have movement faults that never get fixed no medication will be a long term fix, only a temporary relief if that

 

 

For example, if you were never taught how to properly squat, as you get older you may experience knee, hip, or back pain… 

If you go see a doctor for this they will say something along the lines of “take this medicine and stop squatting for a while until your pain goes down” 

 

In theory this makes sense, if something hurts stop using it…

 

But if you never fix your faulty squat form, no medication will ever truly fix your pain

And many times you can skip the medication and learning the correct mechanics of movement will be all the medicine you need to feel better! 

It is very unrealistic to go the rest of your life without squatting… Whether it be in the gym with a barbell on your back, to put your shoes on, or pick something off the floor… it is unavoidable 

Which is exactly why stopping what you’ve been doing is not a good answer, rather you need to correct it

 

What to do if you have pain

It is super important to find a qualified professional who can help with your pain…

Many physical therapists prescribe simple & basic exercises that hundreds of other patients are performing day in day out with little variation or progression

Sometimes you need individualized attention to reach your goals that therapists don’t help much with
