Exercising With a Busy Schedule

If you are someone who says you can't exercise because you don't have time or are too busy, this post is for you. Hopefully these tips I've discovered over my exercise journey can be implemented into your life and help you make the changes you're looking for.

Tip 1: Plan ahead

If the opportunity comes to exercise but you don't have a lot of time, being unsure of what workout or exercises to do can lead to you not exercising at all. If possible, write out your workout routine the day before so when the time comes you will be prepared and know exactly what you should be doing.

Tip 2: Take breaks

If you're a student like me, or work long hours during the day at your job try taking short breaks and perform a few exercises if possible. Go for a short walk or perform some bodyweight exercises if you aren't able to go to the gym. Remember, any amount of exercise is better than no exercise. Your workouts do not need to be 1 hour + long and everything does not need to be done all at once. If you take a few breaks throughout your day and do some exercises sporadically, it can equate to one standard workout.

Tip 3: Get yourself equipment that can easily be transported wherever you go

Having a few different sets of resistance bands can go a long ways. There are countless exercises you can perform with these small, inexpensive pieces of equipment. Not to mention you can bring them with you almost anywhere you go. If you are interested in getting resistance bands, Platinum Training offeres different style bands that are available for purchase. Other places sell them relatively cheap as well such as amazon.

Tip 4: Replace driving with walking or biking

If you have a short commute, this can be a great way to get in your steps for the day. Walking or biking instead of driving is a great habit to implement into your daily routine. It can help your body burn more calories, boost your energy, and help your body get more sunlight.

Tip 5: Take the stairs instead of the elevator

Many places we go have stairs most people avoid, and escalators or elevators most people rely on. Walking up a few flights of stairs when necessary is a super easy way to incorporate exercise into your day. It does not take a lot of time at all, and can be done at your own pace. If this is something you do regularly it can have a big impact on your overall health and fitness.

Tip 6: Get a workout partner

Gyms tend to be the most busy in the afternoon/evening hours. Many people who start their day early and finish in the afternoon/evening fear going to the gym for this reason. Getting a workout partner can be a great way to avoid feeling overwhelmed or anxious when going to the gym during a busy time.

Tip 7: Organize the rest of your day

Many times people finish their work but have other tasks to take care of. Having a plan for your entire day will clearly show you where you have time or can make time for a workout. Don't get blindsided by things you forgot you had to do that will cut into your workout. Knowing exaclty what, when, and where you need to be throughout your day will make it much easier to schedule your workouts!

These are some of the most impactful things I've incorporated into my life over the years that help me remain consistent and exercise everyday. It may seem intimidating at first. Start small, and try gradually implementing these aspects into your life for lasting results. If you are interested in workout out but are unsure where to turn, Platinum Training is here to help!
