Fitness Trends That DON'T Work
There are so many companies out there trying to take advantage of people desperate to reach a certain fitness goal and they promise the product they offer will guarantee help you get there. Today I'm here to tell you about some common examples I see all the time that are a complete waste of money and can even do more harm than good.
Supplements
There are tons of supplements out there, the reality is that very few of them are actually tested, studied, and prove to be effective. No amount or type of supplement will magically work in your favor to replace a poor diet or lack of exercise. Many people depend on supplements when the reality is they do not work as much as many people assume.
Waist trainers
waist trainers do nothing to help you lose weight! People think because you wrap them around your stomach tightly and it makes you sweat more that it is being effective. This is like saying wearing tight clothes will help you lose weight too! This is a tool targeting people wanting to lose weight and it often ends in disappointment for those who purchase them.
Starving yourself
If your goal is to lose weight, do not assume that not eating or starving your body will help you get those goals faster. In fact, it can work against you in this case! If you don't fuel your body with the proper amount of nutrients it requires, any food you do eat will be put into 'reserve' mode to be used for energy throughout your day. A clean diet with detailed nutrients that accomodate your body and goals is the best way that will help you lose weight.
Doing the same workout everyday
If you go to the gym everyday and train the same muscles, perform the same exercise routine, use the same weight and the same amount of reps it becomes very frustrating. I know many people who have been going to the gym for years who don't ever reach their goals because they fail to incorporate variation and progression in their programs. Eventually your body builds a tolerance to the stimuli you place on it. Once your body adapts to a certain workout routine, you must modify your program to prevent your body from plateauing. This is why a custom workout plan for your body and goals is so important! Not only will you stop seeing gains in your muscles, it will delay the time it takes to lose weight also because you limit the amount of muscle groups you are training. The more muscle groups you workout, the more energy your body will burn which leads to more fat loss!
There are many fitness trends that claim they are the key you are searching for that open the door and the results you are looking for are waiting on the other side. The reality is that a hard work, consistency, a tailored program for your body and a clean diet is the only thing that will help you reach your goals!
