Lifestyle Changes You Can Make Starting Today
One of the most common reasons people begin exercising and eventually quit is because they overwhelm themselves by trying to make huge changes in their life that eventually lead to burnout.
Today I am going to share simple lifestyle changes you can integrate into your daily routine starting TODAY! These are simple changes anyone can make and over time they can lead to you experiencing significant results.
Daily walks:
If you go for a 10 minute walk everyday it might not seem like a lot. But if you carry out the numbers over time, 10 minutes per day becomes 70 minutes per week 280 minutes per month, and 3,360 minutes (56 hours) in a year! So even though 10 minutes a day does not seem like much over time it can have huge impacts on your fitness goals.
Proportion sizes:
If you are someone who eats out often one of the most common tips I give to people is to try and limit proportion sizes to what your body needs, not what you want. If you find yourself going out for fast food often, try ordering a small fry instead of a large or a small soda instead of a large. Again, this might not seem like a big deal but by cutting back on extra calories it can lead to drastic changes.
Drink more water:
I cannot emphasize this enough. There's a very high chance you are not drinking the amount of water your body needs to function at its most optimal level. Water has endless health benefits. If you find yourself with mind fog or lack of energy, instead of grabbing a coffee try drinking more water instead! I promise you will notice differences with how you feel throughout your day. I personally aim for 1 gallon every single day, it's a lot but the days I don't drink this much I definitely notice differences in my energy levels, focus, and mood.
Cold showers:
Taking cold showers will not help change your physique in any way. What it does is build your discipline and grit which is why I take a cold shower 365 days a year. There are so many things we don't want to do in our lives like go to work, studying for school, running errands, or whatever it may be. By taking cold showers it forces you to do something you do not want to do which builds upon your discipline. To be successful in life you must have discipline to do things you don't always want to do.
Make a power list:
I've discussed my experience going through the mental toughness program called 75HARD in the past. The creator of the program talks about this thing he came up with called the power list. Everyday you should write down on a piece of paper 5 important things you must accomplish for that day. It cannot be things you would normally do such as brush your teeth or go to work. It must be 5 things that make you a better person. I've personally been using the power list for close to a year now, and when I look back flipping through the notebook where I write down my tasks, you will feel more confident and have more belief in yourself than ever before. I promise if you try this and stick with it you will find yourself becoming a better person every single day!
I hope these tips have helped you gain a new perspective on how small changes can lead to big impacts on reaching your goals. If you decide to try any of these tips let us know in the comments how they have helped benefit your life!
Keep up the hard work!
