The Only Supplements I Use
Many companies have blown up recently in the supplement space
There are some great products on the market that can be beneficial for you and your goals, but many of them are not necessary, and will not help you at all. Some are even very dangerous for your health
To be perfectly clear, supplements are meant to be supplemented into your diet, not replace poor nutrition, and they are most certainly not magic substances that will carry you to where you want to be.
In this post I am go over some common supplement types, and the only ones I will ever use after years of experimenting.
DISCLAIMER: I am not encouraging anyone to purchase supplements by any means, I am simply sharing the knowledge I've acquired over the years and trying to pass that information along to help you. If you plan on trying a new supplement, I would recommend speaking with your doctor prior and speaking with a nutritionist to find out what products can provide you with the most benefits
Protein- Protein powders are one of the most common supplements used and it is for good reason. There are many benefits protein powder has to offer. Protein provides your body with amino acids that help with muscle repair & recovery, assist with weight loss and increase lean muscle mass.
Be careful, this is one of the most hijacked supplements along with pre workout where companies add garbage ingredients such as unnecessary sugars, calories, and much more. My suggestion for protein powder is to find one with a short and simple nutrition label to get the best benefits with least negative effects.
Pre workout- Pre workouts contain many different ingredients that help increase focus, endurance, energy levels, and performance. Pre workout has little benefits for physical results. I would only suggest preworkout if you feel like you never have energy or if you are a gym rat. The main benefit for pre workout is it helps your workouts become more enjoyable.
Be careful when shopping for pre workout! Just like protein powders, but even more so, companies add unnecessary ingredients into their brands pre workout that do not really do what they say. Caffeine is the most known ingredient people are aware of and consuming too much can become very dangerous, especially if you are young or have a low tolerance.
Creatine- Creatine is the most studied and researched supplement on the market. It helps muscles retain water to become bigger and more full. Creatine will only work if you take it consistently for a long period of time. Unlike protein powder and pre workout, creatine is creatine in itself. There should be no other added ingredients to this supplement so it does not matter which brand you choose.
Multivitamin- As you get older multivitamins have many benefits. They help pick up the slack with many vitamins that we don't consume sufficient amounts up from vitamins like Vitamin C, D, & E, B6, Calcium, potassium, magnesium, and so many more. These can all help with a variety of things ranging from bone density, to increasing energy levels, to support eyesight, and much more.
Supplements are only a small portion of the equation that helps you reach your goals. I will never prescribe anyone a certain product, but if asked I will share my go to brands and products
