Why Over 50% of Americans Are Overweight
It is no surprise that over half of the U.S population is overweight
The world has been designed to get us to this here
In this post I'm going to break down some main reasons why we have gotten to this point
Convenience:
Fast food, frozen food, and junk food have all become so easy to find anywhere you go. It's so easy to sit in your car and go through a drive-thru at McDonalds instead of cooking a healthy meal at home. It's very easy to buy a frozen pizza and throw it in the oven. And you can go to pretty much any store and find chips, candy, soda, and more junk.
Comfort:
We listen to our feelings in the moment. If we want pizza, our minds will convince us it is fine to eat that tonight and start eating healthy tomorrow. You can skip a workout because you feel tired and train tomorrow too. We choose what feels good in the moment instead of doing the right thing. AKA. lack of discipline
You are going to have to leave your comfort zone if you really want to see any progress. There will be plenty of times you don't want to go to the gym, but still need to. There will also be plenty of times you have to eat healthy when you don't want to.
Lack of desire:
Many people are intimidated by gyms, insecure about their bodies, or have social anxiety. These feelings scare us more than our desire to become healthy and make positive changes to our body and minds. The 100% truth is everyone feels this way. I've been going to the gym for over 6 years and still feel nervous when I walk into the gym. That's totally normal for everyone. Don't let those feelings block you from doing what you really want to do.
Self perception:
We like to make ourselves feel better by comparing ourselves to people who are more out of shape, have less muscle, or lift lighter weights
That is a cop-out for not wanting to do the work. You shouldn't compare yourself to anyone accept who you were yesterday, and everyday is a new opportunity to improve mentally and physically.
If you are someone who feels people are always looking at you and judging you at the gym, they are not. It doesn't matter if you are skinny, overweight, weak, or unfit. If you go to the gym, everyone there will respect you for working to improve yourself
If you learned something from this post or it motivated you to go to the gym and make positive changes to your body and mind share this post with your friends to help us grow and make a bigger impact!
